1. Saruman is with a Shadow army, so he provides leadership. Same as any other leader. 2. Yup, you can use it as many times as you like. He can recruit 3 units instead of 2. One unit in each Isengard settlement, so one unit in North Dunland, one in South Dunland and one in Orthanc. Simple as that. 3.
The rules changes are as follows: 1. Witchking: Cannot enter play unless Sauron and one Free Peoples Nation is at war (Previously only required Sauron at war). 2. Gandalf the Grey: Guide ability allows draw of new event card if event die is used to play it (previously only applied to character deck). 3. Setup Before starting the game, players must choose who will be the Free Peoples and who will play the Shadow. Once this is decided, place the game board in the middle of all players with room on the sides for discarded cards and eliminated pieces. Next, place the Ring-bearers figure on Rivendell.

Ring or guiding the dreadful servants of Sauron as they hunt for the Ring-bearer. The War of the Ring is usually playable in under three hours but can last longer if played with more than two players. In The War of the Ring, players will either take command of the armies of the Free Peoples or the dark host of the Shadow. Over the course

Dec 5, 2014. wow, I just checked the new files section in Vassal. And there it was. Big, shiny and not just a dead link. There's actually a Vassal module for the second edition of War of the Ring (never got quite comfortable with the Java client for online play)! I thought I'd let everyone here know. Get it while it's hot!
The War of the Ring is a grand strategy board game that allows its players to immerse themselves in the world of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and experience its epic action, dramatic conflict, and memorable characters. As the Free Peoples player you command the proud hosts of the most important kingdoms of the Third Age.
Anniversary Release of War of the Ring Second Edition "The main improvement of Anniversary Release over the normal version of War of the Ring Second Edition is that all figures are hand-painted to a very good quality standard. We will also include two beautiful hardcover volumes, in a slipcase, graced by full-color art by John Howe: the 2nd To combat this, the "dwarven ring" bid is implemented. It's a small change to help balance top tier play, but at lower skill levels, it could still be used, and have minimal effect on the game. No, you do not need the 2nd edition upgrade (to play the 1st edition as the 2nd edition). Ive maybe played 20-25 games now and average around 3 hrs, depending on the opponent. I take the time and enjoy the game. I think 3-4 hours is average even for newish players.. but not for first time players. I think your poll is accurate: Experienced 2-3 hours. Moderate. 3-4 hours. Beginner. 4-5 hours. Tip.
An impressively sized war game, War of the Ring pits 2 players (or 4) against each other in a battle for Middle Earth comprised of all the favourite races and characters you love from the original trilogy. So, grab your Hobbits, Dwarves, Elves and Men. And an ungodly amount of Goblins. It’s time for War!
