Prior to the announcement we spent a day shooting with the new camera. During my time with the EOS RP I shot with the extension grip, a RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM, RF 28-70mm F2 L USM, a 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM, and a EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM with adapter. 1/200 sec, f/13 at ISO 100 Jeanette D. One poster mentioned that f/2.8 makes a difference. Well IME f/2.0 makes a HUGE difference (vs f/4). Seriously, I haven’t picked up my RF 24-105 f/4L since getting the RF 28-70 and RF 70-200 f/2.8 combo. In fact, my primes (16, 35, 50, 85, 100, 135) have hardly seen the light of day since then either. About all I need now is a second body. R2
Any of Canon's 83mm hoods will fit, but to avoid vignetting you need the one designed specifically for your RF 24-105. As Steven wrote, the 83mm hood for 24-105 zooms is the EW-83N. There are other variations that will probably work fine, the differences are pretty subtle: EW-83H (EF f/4L mk I), EW-83M (EF f/3.5-5.6 and EF f/4L mk II). camera review canon canon eos r5 canon r5 eos r5 full-frame gallery images mirrorless review sample images. by William Brawley. First thought it could be because of DoF or some back/front focusing. But actually all samples are same and nothing is much sharper. Spend some time over Canon RF lens sharpness and compared with 24-70/f2.8 , 24-105/f4 and Panasonic 25-50/f1.7. From DPR galleries. Sad but f2/f2.8 are not very sharp compared to 24-105/f4 or Panny f1.7 wide open!
But as the other guy said, I basically never shoot 8k. I don't need it. Unless I need/want raw video, I always use 4kHQ and Clog3. The RF 24-105 f4 would be fine with that as well. Personally I prefer the 24-70 2.8. In the end it's more about what you're shooting than the resolution of the image.
What lens makes sense to pick up FIRST? The Canon RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM? The RF 50mm F1.8 STM? Or how about the RF 35mm F1.8 Macro? They're all solid, bu

The RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 offers a very versatile focal range whilst being sharp in the centre from 24mm to 85mm, although performance drops off the edges of the frame. Sharpness at the far end of the telephoto range isn't quite as good when shooting wide-open at f/7.1.
